Traveling Through Mountains

The basins between the mountain ranges began to narrow as we headed north from Boulder towards Jackson and the south entrance to the Grand Teton National Park. As they narrowed, the rugged mountains came closer.

Neat ranches at the base of the Wyoming Range.

There were several of these wildlife crossings over US Route 191.

More of the...

Wyoming Range.

We passed through a canyon with the...

reddish pink Hoback River...

rushing through the canyon.

Just outside of Jackson traffic came to a stop until this "oversize load" could find a...

wide spot in the road where this giant RV stopped and we all passed by on the shoulder of the road.

Snake Range just outside Jackson.

Jackson is a tourist town with eye-catching signs and...

clever ways to advertise a river rafting adventure.

One of the iconic arches at the entrance to the town square.

US 89 is the main road that leads north from the town of Jackson to Yellowstone National Park. Leaving town, it passes the National Elk Refuge, then climbs a small rise to emerge suddenly in full view of the Tetons. Our RV park is 40 miles north of Jackson.

After un-hitching and setting up, we walked over to the Colter Bay marina and these beautiful views of...
the Tetons on the left and Mount Moran on the right.

Mount Moran closest to us.
