Cheyenne Mountain State Park

We said "Good-bye" to New Mexico today after visiting for two months. The border was only about 10 miles from Raton, over the Raton Pass.

We are pleased to be in Colorado, although until the trees leaf out, it's not too colorful.

At first it looked a lot like New Mexico.

Then the mountains began to loom in the distance.

Mountains in the background; arid, high mountain plateau in the foreground..

We think this may be Pike's Peak - above Colorado Springs.

We will be staying in Cheyenne Mountain State Park for the next week. The park is new. Formerly the JL Ranch, it was acquired in June 2000 and the facilities opened in 2006. All the buildings are quite new.

These two deer were in the meadow you see in front of the Airstream, above.
