You can still get snow at the end of April

The penultimate rainy driving day - rain/snow is predicted for tomorrow as well. This whole trip has been a "swim" to Denver - a cold swim.

Early this afternoon we passed under The Archway at Kearney, Nebraska, to honor the brave 19th century pioneers who settled this wild land.

Two miles from our destination RV park we stopped to get fuel and to enjoy the falling snow.

Large, white, feathery, flakes. At least it melted when it hit the ground!

Entering new territory

We have passed into Nebraska and entered territory where we have not driven before. But first, traveling through Council Bluffs, IA, on I-80, we passed by some familiar sculptures that we first showed on Venturing4th on November 2, 2015.

These sculptures are called, "Odyssey" by the artist...

but locally they are referred to as, "Spiky Towers".

A little further along I-80 we were welcomed to the state of Nebraska.

Iowa is BIG!

I guess we have spent too much time on the east coast and have lost our perspective on the size of this country. Yesterday we spent the night in Iowa (all right, just inside the border from Illinois) and tonight we are spending another night, with about 100 miles until we reach Nebraska. The weather remains drizzly, overcast and cold. (We are snug and warm in our Airstream with the Dyson heater going full time.)

Today's hike was 7 times around the permitter of the campground - for a total of 2.73 miles. It wasn't without its charm.

Nice name for a street - right Sissy?

Serene pond. Look closely and you might be able to see some geese on the lawn - my favorites.

Heres something we have never seen before - a slide in a slide. There are some BIG motorhomes here.

Crossing the Mississippi... heading west

The last blog we posted was on November 2, 2015. We had just crossed beautiful Iowa, from the Missouri River to the Mississippi River. The next day, on November 3, we crossed the Mississippi heading east for a glorious 5 months of family time, holiday celebrations and friend visiting.

We are now back on the road, re-united with our homey Airstream, and heading west.

Crossing the Mississippi River heading west. We are camped tonight in Davenport, Iowa.
