Welcome to Wyoming

We knew we were heading into snow because last night when we confirmed our reservations for the next two nights we learned that I-80 was closed because of the snow storm that missed us but hit southeastern Wyoming hard. We went online to check road condition projections and Frederick brought up Wyoroads.info and sure enough I-80, between Laramie and Cheyenne, was closed. But when I went online 5 minutes later the interstate had been opened.

The trip from Denver to the Wyoming border, on I-25, was through a clear landscape but as we approached Wyoming the snow began to appear and we spied the Wyoming bison on the mountain peak.

We knew Wyoming was just ahead.

No good-bye to Colorado but a nice welcome from Wyoming.

Seven miles into Wyoming we turned west on I-80 and...

began to climb from Cheyenne, elevation 6,060ft., over the "no name" pass at 8,640ft.

These white wind turbines looked impressive against the white snow.

Evidence of why I-80 was closed. That's a truck on the other side of the medium.

Near the summit is the Lincoln Rest Stop.

Lincoln looming.

From the pass we began to drop down into...

Laramie, elevation 7,171ft.

And of course, at the RV park we were greeted by wind. At least they have a sense of humor about it.
