Surprise Corner to Hoodoos

Our go-to hike when we want to stay close to home and get some household chores done. The Hoodoos are right across from the campground and we could walk over to the Hoodoos and then down the trail to the trailhead by the Bow River. But then we would have end the hike by climbing the hill back to the campground. By driving down to the trailhead and hiking up we can end by going downhill. Plus, the car is near downtown and we can stop in at the grocery store before returning home.
Threatening rain and cool today - 54 degrees. Here's Frederick walking along the Bow River which, as all the rivers and streams we're seeing, is raging full and fast flowing.

From the shore of the Bow River we climbed up to an overlook. The Hoodoos, such as they are, are in the bottom center of the picture.

Two red Parks Canada chairs at the overlook.

What a beautiful valley!

Another view of Mount Rundle across the river.

Today's hike:
Length - 6.69 miles
Duration - 2 hours, 51 minutes (including lunch)
Elevation gain - 854 feet
