Bow Glacier Falls

The weather forecast was for a clear, mile day so we drove the 1 1/2 hour drive north of Lake Louise to the Bow Glacier Falls Trail - one of our favorite hikes in Banff. In fact, this is at least the 5th time we have hiked to the Falls. The weather was spectacular all day - the best day we have had in Banff in two years!
Bow Lake in...

the morning.

The Bow Glacier Falls is at the end of a canyon that is off the end of Bow Lake so the first thing you have to do is hike around the Lake.

Entering the canyon with the falls at the end - center of the picture.

Lunch spot.

Lunch view. The Falls with quite a spray.

Hiking back down the canyon along the outflow creek.

Near the end of the canyon we could peek to the right up another canyon and glacier.

Bow Lake in the afternoon.

Incredible blue color of Bow Lake.

Eightpetal Mountain-avens

Hookedspur Violet; Early Blue Violet. Both of these wildflowers are some of the earliest bloomers in the Rockies.

Today's hike:
Length - 5.84 miles
Duration - 3 hours, 41 minutes (including lunch)
Elevation gain - 607 feet
