Bear necessities

It rained all day today with temperatures that didn't get out of the 40s. We didn't feel like putting on our rain gear so we did what a lot of families did today - went into town and did our laundry.

We also picked up some hiking necessities - bear spray and an air horn. Our can of bear spray that we have been carrying since last year expired a couple of months ago. Here's hoping we don't ever have to pull the orange safety off!

Bear Beware

The cans come with a holder that you can attach to your belt or backpack. 

I like the idea of an air horn because the bear, or other animal, doesn't have to be close in order for it to be effective.
