Elk Greeting and Farewell

When we arrived in Jasper this summer, four weeks ago, the resident campground elk herd was here to greet us. But then, we rarely saw them again, maybe twice more munching the grass next to the Airstream. But then today, our last full day here, the mamma elk and her youngster came to say good-bye. Four weeks ago this baby still had spots on its hindquarters, but they are all gone now!

A big work day for us humans. Laundry, tank dumping, some cleaning, putting away the yard mat, and other assorted prep work for the move tomorrow.

Mamma elk with collar.

Her youngster.

We'll miss you!
