We're Going to Edmonton!

Halfway between Banff and Jasper yesterday, the "check engine" light came on again. You can imagine how frustrated that make us feel! However, the Airstream is parked in Whistlers Campground and we have four weeks to address this warning light. The closest Mercedes dealer is in Edmonton, 227 miles/3 hours, 48 minutes away. We called and have an appointment on Thursday (we checked the weather forecast first and there is supposed to be rain and thunderstorms on Thursday & Friday) at about noon. We'll stay overnight and return to Jasper on Friday.

We've never been to Edmonton - a new adventure and we can celebrate Frederick's birthday at a nice restaurant in Edmonton on Thursday night.

At Whistlers Campground there is a shower building a 10 minute walk on a path through the campground. We often see elk grazing along the path or in the adjacent meadows, but today I saw a fox come trotting toward me on a connecting path. By the time I had extracted my phone from the bottom of the shower bag, it had turned down the path I had just come up and was moving away.

My first inclination was to call out to "stop", but of course, that wouldn't have worked. Foxes have really long legs!

  1. Much better to see it walking away than right for you!! While the picture may have been a little more interesting, I'm not sure it would have been worth it. Safe travels, nothing like having a check engine light on when you're 227 miles from help.
