Elk in the Rain

You might remember, back in May, that the Fitbit began to be unreliable; not holding a charge and blacking out during hiking. I was fortunate enough to replace it with an Apple Watch with GPS and Frederick has been wearing the Fitbit for the past two months. But, three days ago, during our hike to Rockbound Lake, the Fitbit stopped completely. Since thunderstorms were forecast for today, we drove into Calgary, to the Apple store, and Frederick received an Apple Watch for his birthday later this month. We also stopped at Costco.

Ever since we arrived in Banff we have been looking for the elk, which we saw regularly last year, but to no avail. Today, as we returned to the campground, there was a substantial herd grazing along side the road.

The animals appeared to be mostly juveniles. The diagonal lines through the picture (particularly if you enlarge the picture) is the falling rain.

Frederick's new Apple Watch - space grey aluminum case with black band.

No hike today.
