Johnson Lake

We tried to hike around Johnson Lake last week, but the Lake was closed so Parks Canada could remove non-native fish. The sign on the barricade said the Lake would reopen on July 1. We had sought out Johnson Lake because it is near to Banff and by walking around the Lake one way and then turning around and walking in the other direction we can get a hike of about 4 miles on a trail with little elevation gain - the perfect hike between strenuous ones. Since we still had work to do on the vehicles (waxing), it was just what we were looking for.

Beautiful lake with Cascade Mountain in the background.

Perfect day for a hike, in shorts.

Today's hike:
Length - 3.71 miles
Duration - 1 hour, 35 minutes
Elevation gain - 364 feet
