Being near Providence allows us the opportunity to have a One-to-One session at the Providence Place Mall Apple Store. There were a number of issues that we wanted to address. We spent the most time on adding the Where We've Been map of the United States that you see to the right. Suzanne had done a lot of work in finding this interactive map site and getting it already to add to the blog. All we needed was to learn how Apple's operating system wanted us to do it. Randell, our instructor, helped figure out how to do it, and - success!! We'll have to take a new screen shot every time we update, but at least it's there.

Randell also verified that the way Suzanne found to add Google maps to the blog is the only way that works, so thank-you, Suzanne. There were some minor issues such as deleting in Pages, iPhone updates, and finding out where the calendar entries went (they were un-checked in settings). There was one other issue that Randell helped us with. Paul had emailed me this morning to tell me that the polite way to send out emails to a list is to do so in "bcc". I didn't know that, but Randell helped us fine the bcc line and from now on that is how we will send out the blog.

The Apple Store in the Providence Place Mall.

Randell, super friendly and knowledgable. Once again it was a case of, "we're not supposed to have our pictures taken", but darn, I took this one before I realized that. Drat!

After the Apple Store visit, we travelled to Garden City in Cranston for a visit to the REI Store. All summer we have been envious of the pants that the Parks Canada employees wear. They are made of a cool fabric that sheds water and they also have zip-off legs so they can be worn as long pants or as shorts. I once asked a Parks Canada employee where I could get some just like hers and she told me that I would have to work for the Canadian Government to get a pair.

I went online and found that REI have a variety, so we were just waiting to get back to the states to visit our local REI Store. Frederick and I were both successful in finding pants and moisture-wicking shirts that we will be able to wear when we go hiking. This will be a big improvement over jeans, which are horrible to hike in, especially if there is any rain. Wet jeans do not dry very quickly.

The lovely store in Cranston. I guess technically it isn't in Garden City. It's across the street from Garden City, in a new shopping center. This is also where we got our bikes a few years back.

Allie and Brian we very friendly and we had a nice conversation about Newfoundland while we were being checked out.

A store that is in Garden City is...

Of all the chocolate stores that we have been to in two countries, we like the dark chocolate discs from Sweenor's the best. The discs are 72% cocoa, which is just how we like it.

With great restraint we limited our purchase to the dark chocolate discs - five boxes.  We're hoping that will last us for the next two months. We only have a small amount of medicinal chocolate a day, so we should be fine.

  1. Oh Mom, Sweenor's! YUM. I'm glad you got the blog in order and we were on the right track. The where we have been looks great, very professional.
