Desert Lakes

Today is Monday, moving day, and we left Kartchner Caverns State Park heading east and tonight we are in New Mexico - the first time since we began traveling in the Airstream. I mentioned that Monday is moving day, but for the next couple of months we will be moving more frequently than once a week. It turns out that these are big states and if we want to see a lot of what there is to see, we will need to move more frequently. Also, getting reservations in the state parks was a little more challenging than we thought.

Thirtly miles down the road from Kartchner Caverns on I-10 is a pass called Texas Canyon which we have now travelled through 3 times, twice when we traveled to Chiricahua National Monument, and today towing the Airstream into New Mexico. Below are 4 pictures that Frederick took of these interesting formations.

Arriving in New Mexico.

The scenery is not too different; maybe the mountain ranges appear to be farther away on the horizon.

It did rain all last night and again today there were periods of rain. This is the New Mexico desert with small lakes of water.

A pointy mountain that seems typical of New Mexico.

Tonight we are in Lordsburg, NM, at an "overnight" KOA campground.
