Prevention

After we picked up the Airstream from CanAm in London, Ontario, we noticed that the hot water coming from the kitchen sink was not as hot as remembered before winter storage. Then the water pressure began to go until sometimes it was barely a trickle from the faucet. When we got to Denver we called the local Airstream dealer but they told us it would be over 10 days before they could schedule us to come in for a repair. We asked for a recommendation for someone that did "house calls", so they would come to us instead of us having to hitch up and take the Airstream to a repair facility.

Last Thursday, Colorado Custom RV Repair came to the Prospect RV Park and fixed the problem of a faucet and hose plugged up with debris. It probable became trapped in the faucet when compressed air was used to clear the water pipes of any water before the Airstream went into winter storage. The fix was the same as the cause - Colorado Custom RV Repair used compressed air to clean the faucet and lines and water pressure was restored.

In order to mitigate a similar problem in the future, Frederick has installed a filter on the water connection hose, the blue device on the white hose above. We had been told that a filter wasn't necessary, except maybe in Florida where there can be sand in the water, but we figured that an ounce of prevention would make for a happier life down the road.

A view from one of our walks along the Wheat Ridge Greenbelt. Looking like weather vanes, these geese get a birds-eye view of the surrounding.

Day four at National Jewish Health

The first appointment this morning was with Dr. Kasperbauer. We have decided to treat the MAC  (mycobacterium avium-intracellular infection) and I began taking one of three antibiotics that I will be taking for an extended period of time. I will be taking the antibiotics three times per week, on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. The other two antibiotics will be introduced one at a time - one on Wednesday and the final one on Friday.

Next was an Occupational Therapist evaluation where I learned proper breathing techniques. This was followed by a Physical Therapy evaluation where I was told - I'm not making this up - that I am the most fit person this therapist has evaluated is quite some time. Nice to hear and we have Peter to thank for introducing us to the exercise facility at the Providence YMCA. We have tried to exercise faithfully every since and now consider it our "job".

This afternoon it was back to radiology where they made a video of me swallowing liquid, thick liquid, vanilla pudding and vanilla pudding on a graham cracker. No problem with my swallowing!

Finally we were scheduled for two classes: Tools for Fitness; and, Managing Your Energy Everyday. We were excused from the energy class because they observed that I have plenty of energy.
