Lego Brick Sculpture

I won't say that we saved the best for last, our time in Naples is coming to a close, but today was certainly a highlight of our stay. This Sunday morning, at 10am, we passed through the people entrance to the Naples Botanical Garden. I say "people" entrance, because today was Dogs in the Garden Day and they, and their people, have their own entrance.

Look familiar Mary?

Not only was incredibly gorgeous flora awaiting us, there was also a special exhibit of Lego Bricks sculpture. There were 15 sculptures spread throughout the gardens and we found all of them (it was a bit like a treasure hunt) and photographed each one.  I won't put them all in the blog, but here are some of my favorites.

Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly

Garen Worker

Fox & Rabbit

Bison & Calf

Jumping Koi

Of course, the real draw were the gardens and they were spectacular! I can't pick a favorite because they all have their attractions. There was a Children's Garden, Brazilian Garden, Asian Garden, Caribbean Garden, Florida Garden and a water garden.

There were some other "special" gardens and one caught our eye. Actually Frederick noticed it first.

They spelled the family name wrong on the sign.

The Enabling Garden was quite nice and offered up suggestions on ways to garden if you have physical limitations.

We began our journey through the gardens by taking a guided tour. We had a terrific tour guide who really connected with our small group.

Bill used the large leaf as a pointer.

We visited the butterfly garden and saw the nursery.

Just emerging from its chrysalis and drying its wings before flying.

My attempt at being Monet.

Another special treat was a jazz concert.  This was the last Sunday for the concerts on selected Sunday afternoons. There were a fair number of people that came just for the concert. Because I notice such things, there was a special tented area for donors where they were served wine.

Lovely way to spend an afternoon - music in the garden.
