Welcoming Committee

Blog post for April 13 -

We drove straight west today, back into Texas, and it rained almost the whole way and it is raining now. The Texas state campground that we are in is called Caprock Canyons and, from what we could see on the drive in, there is spectacular scenery. The park is also home to the Texas State Bison Herd. I hope it clears some tomorrow so we can explore.

We drove through Altus, OK, home to an Air Force Base. There was a huge B-47 on the main street.

Turkey, Texas is about 10 miles from Caprock Canyons. We immediately turned on the radio to our country music station of choice, Willie’s Roadhouse, and wouldn’t you know, the third song they played was “Bubbles in My Beer”, by Bob Wills and His Texas Playboys. Such a coincidence!

Arriving at Caprock Canyons we noticed four bison coming down the road to greet us. Rebecca in the Visitor’s Center said that the bison are very curious animals and that they’ll wander through the campground just to see what’s going on. Here are the two in the lead.
