Open Range

Moving day. We're now in the western part of Oklahoma in the Wichita Mountains National Wildlife Refuge.

The cell coverage and internet access in our campground is non-existent. We're in the Visitor's Center right now - it closes in 15 minutes - and we get one bar.

On our way out of the Chickasaw Nation we stopped at their chocolate factory. See the friendly working waving to us from the observation window? We also bought some dark chocolate.

The foothills of the Wichita Mountains. Some very strange formations.

This is a National Wildlife Refuge - everything is "open range".

This bison greeted us on our way into the Refuge.

These long-horned cattle kept crossing and re-crossing the road - and stopping traffic - as we drove to the Visitor's Center.

An exhibit in the VC.

  1. Look forward to your reemergence in the coming days. Watch out for wild everything I guess

  2. I was surprised the National Wildlife Refuge sign said "buffalo" instead of "bison," since there are no buffalo in North America. You, however, correctly labeled them!
