At last - Denali

Loving the outdoors, we have been looking forward to our visit to Denali National Park since we began the Alaskan Caravan and today we are here! The RV park is in Healy, AK, a little sliver of land along the highway, carved out of the park. The drive from Fairbanks was only 125 miles so we had time to drive into the park before we returned to the RV park to set-up.

(Apologies for the bugs and rain drops on the windshield that mar the first three pictures.)

The Alaskan Range, home to Denali, The Great One, approaching in our windshield.

Right outside the main (only) park road we passed through the canyon of the Nenana River and the aptly named community of Canyon.

The only road in Denali extends 92 miles into the park but private cars are allowed on only the first 15 miles. After mile 15 only tour busses and shuttles are allowed. This is the Wilderness Access Center where all the busses and shuttles depart.

Tucked into our site with mountains as our backdrop.
