Loch Lomond

As expected, this morning dawned  with blue skies and sunshine. In my experience, the day after a big storm is usually beautiful.  As we were leaving the campground I asked the owner, who I had been badgering before the storm about how safe we would be ("You are in #37, you should be all right.), how this storm compared with others they have had. He said that this had been a big one. Then he smiled and said, "You didn't get blown away!"

Yesterday.

Today.
It was moving day, into Nova Scotia.  We didn't have too far to go, perhaps 125 miles. Tonight we are in Amherst, NS, not too far from Joggins and Parrsboro,  where Peter was almost two years ago. Our original plan had been to spend two days at Amherst, the Loch Lomand Park, and visit Joggins and Parrsboro, but since we delayed leaving because of the storm, we will be here only overnight. We have to be in North Sydney, NS, on Wednesday, July 9, to catch the ferry to Newfoundland, so we don't have any flexibility.

On our way, we stopped in Moncton, NB, to grocery shop.  I had asked a woman where the nearest supermarket was when we stopped for gas in Petitcodiac, NB, and she said Moncton, about 20 miles down the road, and there was a big parking lot. We put Sobeys in the GPS and Mary Beth took us right to this shopping center.  In addition to Sobeys there was a Target and a couple of other big stores.

There we are, on the edge of the parking lot. We only had to push our grocery carts about a quarter of a mile but it was worth it because it was a great grocery store. Usually we only go to a grocery store when we unhitch, but we are now in a hurry to get to North Sydney and we probably won't unhitch until we get to Newfoundland. So we stocked up.

About a mile and a half into Nova Scotia we stopped at the Welcome Center.

There was a lovely arbor that connected the parking lot to the Center.

In front of the Center was this pleasant sunken garden.

While we were there this huge semi pulling a three axel 5th wheel came in.  That is a seriously big rig!

Loch Lomond Park is located on Blair's Lake. We are only about 6 miles into Nova Scotia.
