Rim Trail

Rim Trail parallels the Hermits Rest Shuttle Bus route that we took yesterday. There are 8 viewpoints along the route, but yesterday we had a single purpose so we did not hop off the bus to admire the views. Today was a different story, we hiked the Rim Trail, from Bright Angel Trailhead all the way to Hermits Rest - 8.4 miles according to the trail map.

Also today, we attached the wide-angle lens and set out to "take pictures of the Grand Canyon'. We began hiking in partly sunny weather but ended in a blizzard. I wish we could label each picture by the viewpoint, but alas, we can't identify most of them. But then, we think they are all spectacular!

This one and the following one are of the Bright Angel Trail. This picture also shows the GrandCanyon Village on the rim.

We hope to take a portion of the Bright Angel Trail tomorrow.

These next three may be from Maricopa Point.

Powell Point?

Hopi Point?

Mohave Point?

Mohave Point?

(I give up!)

That's the Colorado River at the base of the Canyon.

Gathering storm clouds.

Beginning to snow - at Pima Point.

We hopped on the shuttle bus at Hermits Rest and arrived back at the stop near Bright Angel Trailhead.

Frederick scraped off the snow and we drove the entire 50+ miles home in blizzard conditions. I know you in the east have no sympathy for us!!

Today's hike:
Length - 9.19 miles
Duration - 4 hours, 38 minutes
Elevation gain - 1,090 feet (109 floors on the Fitbit)
