Together again

It's 305 miles from Atlanta to McDavid, FL, but we got an early start and crossed into the Central Time Zone picking up an hour so we arrived at Mystic Springs Airstream Park at just about 1:30 pm. We immediately hitched-up and towed our Airstream from it's storage site to a site that had full hook-ups. While I put stuff away, Frederick de-winterized - flushing the antifreeze from the plumbing lines, restarting the water heater and connecting the house batteries (which involved flipping a switch). Tomorrow we'll refill our fresh-water tank and we'll be back in business.

Passing through Atlanta this morning Frederick took some picture of the skyline and luckily captured one with the Olympic torch from the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

As we were driving along we overtook an Airstream. I think this is the first time that has happened. We have seen plenty of Airstreams heading in the opposite direction but I guess when we are traveling on an interstate we are towing so we are not driving fast enough to overtake anything.

We stopped at a rest stop in Castleberry, Alabama, and were greeted by this sign on the door. I don't know why this didn't reassure me.

70 degrees and enjoying lunch at a rest stop picnic table that was not covered in snow.

It was so exciting to come home. It has been exactly two months since we left and there she is, shining in the sun.

  4. It's been fun following along on your journey. How nice to finally be able to eat lunch at a picnic table instead of the car. Welcome home! How long before you take off again? Judy S.
