Haute-Gaspesie

The Gaspe Peninsula is divided into tourist regions and today we travelled from Forillon National Park to Gaspe National Park ( a provincial park) along the coast of the Haute-Gaspesie region.
The first half of our 155 mile trip was through the mountains and there was much driving up and down. The last half was along the coast.

The lighthouse at Sainte-Madeleine-de-la-Riviere-Madeleine.

Most of the last half of our trip was along the coast that looked like this. It was quite an engineering feat to build this road.

Along the way we saw this boat that had floundered right next to the road.

There were dramatic headlands like this and waves breaking over big slabs of rock.

This was a dramatic mountain that came right own to the road.

It was very windy so there were lots of breakers.

It looks as if the road runs right between the mountain and a sea stack. That is probably what is forming through erosion.

A church steeple and a lighthouse at La Martre.
