We're on the move once more, heading south until we get to just north of LA when we will turn east on the #210, travel past Pasadena and tomorrow night camp in San Dimas, the closest RV park to Pasadena, about 20 miles distance. If all goes according to plan, we should be able to meet-up with Peter for a nice visit on Thursday evening.
While we were near the Pinnacles National Park this past week, we took the opportunity to shop at the Costco in Salinas, about 30 miles away. You know you are at a California Costco when the snack bar is outside in the open air!
We are driving south on Highway #101, the Historic El Camino Real. Every mile there is a bell symbol to mark the historic route of the Missions.
All the rain in California has caused the hills to turn green. I'm stunned to see this picture with blue sky and sunshine. It must have been all of 5 minutes of sunshine in the past week!
Green California hills - a most welcome sight.
For about 5 miles, at Pismo Beach, Highway #101 touches the Pacific Ocean.
This will be our last view of the ocean for the next year.
Strange geologic formation along the highway just up the road from Pismo Beach.
Tonight we are in Buellton at the Flying Flags RV resort. They have a row of vintage Airstreams available for rent.
All along the route today we passed roadside signs for Andersen's Split Pea Soup. Turns out Andersen's is located about a block away from the RV resort. We walked to the restaurant on the corner and had a bowl of the best split pea soup I have ever had.
