Pure travel day. We got a good start and had excellent, divided highways the whole way. Nova Scotia is lovely and we look forward to exploring it more fully when we return from Newfoundland and Labrador.
We got to our campsite, set up, and after lunch got to work. Frederick emptied the fresh water tank and refilled it with fresh water. I finished our Newfoundland/Labrador calendar, identified campgrounds, and called for reservations. We are all booked except for one campground that had specific hours and I'll have to call back and, we have to select a place to stay in Labrador. We're probably not going to take the Airstream over, so we'll look for a hotel or "rooms". It shouldn't be too hard because there are not that many places.
Late afternoon the blog was calling so we went out for some pictures. Many of the campgrounds, actually all that we have stayed in, have many more seasonal residents than transient users, like us. That means that some people make their spaces very home-like.
Lovely annual flowers in a curved garden. There are usually hanging flower baskets as well, we were told, but they were on the ground under the 5th wheel because the residents are away.
This impressive set-up has a deck and two gazebos - plus the flags of Canada and Nova Scotia.
After dinner we took a walk down by this lovely sandy beach. A fishing boat was just going by heading to port in Pictou.
This is the view out to the Northumberland Strait. Way out there, to the north, is Prince Edward Island. A ferry goes to and from Pictou Harbour to PEI several times a day.
View toward Pictou from our campground beach. You can just make out tiny sailboats in the center/left of the picture. I had to carefully frame this shot because...
just to the left was this factory spewing out smoke that, at least to my eyes, takes away the beauty of Pictou Harbour. But, people have to make a living.
