Arthur made his presence pretty well know today. This morning I woke up when I heard the beep that indicates that electrical power is being supplied to the Airstream. I think we only lost power momentarily and the beep indicated that we once again had electrical power. If we don't have external electrical power, the lights still work off our battery power, so loosing the campground supplied electrical power is not that much of a handicap, except we wouldn't be able to use the microwave.
Of course I noticed right away that there was a storm raging outside. From about 4am to 8:30am, there were terrific wind gust and sustained wind of about 30 miles per hour. The Airstream was shaking and groaning at times. The wind was coming off the Bay and the front of the Airstream was feeling the force of the wind and rain. At about 8:30am the wind died down and the rain was just a constant heavy, heavy mist. That's how it was for most of the day until around 5pm when the wind and rain started up again, this time from the opposite direction, and the back of the Airstream was streaming with rain. Classic hurricane, I guess.
Right now, at 10:30 pm, it is still raining and blowing, but I think that it is subsiding. The NOAA app on my phone shows the storm to be blowing itself out.
This beach, about 300 yards from our campsite, has never had waves that we have seen. We went out about 1 pm and took these pictures. This is looking towards the caves across the small bay.
Looking the opposite direction.
This small pond was in the "Saints" blog of two day ago, only about half this size.
The weather forecast for tomorrow is for partly cloudy skies and a high of 72.
