Crossing the Tappen Zee Bridge. Don't you just love to have that name roll off your tongue!
For the first time since March 12, we are back in New England. We crossed into Connecticut about 3 p.m. this afternoon. We had a fair distance to travel today, from northwestern New Jersey to central Connecticut, about 175 miles. We went around New York, crossed the Hudson on the Tappen Zee Bridge and connected with I-95 just outside of New York City.
Tomorrow is another travel day - after we visit the Dinosaur State Park, the Connecticut geo-site, which is about 20 miles from the Little City Campground where we are staying. Tomorrow's goal will be the Minuteman/Boston Campground in Littleton, MA. We will be there for one week.
Another nice architectural view of the Tappen Zee Bridge.
The Airstream and Benz in the Little City Campground.
Just past our campsite, down the hill, is this little pond.
A view back down the hill at our campsite.
Other campers tucked back in the trees. Most of the folks here seem to be long-term campers, meaning that they are here for months at a time.
Mountain Laurel at the campground entrance just beginning to bloom. We've seen Mountain Laurel blooming for the past six weeks, as we have been heading north.
Cherub on the stone bench by the lake. He is tied on with bungee cords.
Lots of deep-throated frogs in this pond. At least one sounds like someone is playing a lower register string on a bass violin.
You can just make out the central Connecticut hills in the background.
