Butte, Montana

We started out in Fishing Bridge, drove up to Canyon, over to Norris Geyser Basin, down to Madison Junction and out of Yellowstone through West Yellowstone. That part of today's drive, 56 miles, took us one and a half hours.

The middle part of the drive (100 miles) was on Route 191, up the west side of Yellowstone, to I-90; total drive, 220 miles.

We have driven this route twice before and have enjoyed the scenery through a beautiful canyon. This mountain has a red strip and...

here is a close-up of the red band.

The stream at the base of the canyon was swollen with winter run-off.

Closer to I-90, the distance mountains appeared.

Bucolic scene at the base of the mountains. If you have enlarged the picture, you might notice the birds on the back of two of the horses.

Up on I-90, the "big skies" appeared.

After climbing a pass, when the most we could manage was 48 mph, we came down the other side into Butte, Mt.

We feel very protected and watched-over this evening. High on the mountain, looking down on our RV park, is Our Lady of the Rockies.

It's nice to have her there!
