Bad Fuel

Today was moving day and we expected a very short drive over to Homolovi State Park, 90-miles away. We had just pulled onto the interstate, I-40 which we would take all the way to Winslow where Homolovi SP is located, when I glanced down and noticed the 'check engine' light on again. As we were driving right through Flagstaff, we called Tina Wofford and told her we were coming and that we were towing a thirty-foot trailer.

Tina instructed us to pull into a large church parking lot across the street from the dealer where we could drop the trailer and then come to the service department. The diagnosis today was a 'hard' malfunction of fuel sensor #5; on Tuesday, it was a 'soft' problem that the fuel sensor software had picked up on fuel sensor #2. The speculation is that we had gotten some 'bad' fuel which is causing the problem. Mercedes-Benz has seen this happen before and always because of contaminated fuel.

We now have a new fuel sensor #5 and have completed our drive to Homolovi State Park. It was not what we planned to do today, but once again we consider ourselves fortunate that we were driving by a Mercedes dealer who could help us out!

We enjoyed working with Tina on Tuesday, and we were happy to see her again today. She gave us a lot of time and attention explaining things to us. We really appreciated her help and suggestions!

Just east of Flagstaff we were back on the high Arizona plateau desert.

Some pretty strange looking rocks.

At the Holomovi SP campground we found the Airstream section and moved right in. Really, it's a coincidence that there are three Airstreams parked almost next to each other.

Back in the desert.
