Beginning the loop trail.
Beginning to climb the hills behind the campground.
Just a little beyond the half-way point there was an optional spur trail that took us to the top of a peak for a spectacular view of the surrounding landscape. I believe that in the distance you can see the Mule Mountains and Bisbee, Arizona.
This is to the east to with the Galiuro Mountains to the left, the Winchester Mountains in the center, and Cochise Stronghold in the Dragoon Mountains. You might notice the moon in the upper center of the picture. (As usual, if you click on the pictures you can enlarge them for more detail.)
On the way back we had this elevated view of the Discovery Center. The caverns are below the Center.
Today's hike:
Length - 3.37 miles
Duration - 1 hour, 41 minutes
Elevation gain - 550 feet (55 stories on the Fitbit)
