Blackhawk Canyon - Sonoita Creek Loop Trail

On Tuesday we did this trail beginning on the Sonoita Creek Loop Trail. Today we reversed direction and began by traveling first through Blackhawk Canyon.

The first task was to cross the spillway at the end of Patagonia Lake.

Vista Trail

Traveling through an ocotillo forest.

Lunch spot on Sonoita Creek. Since this is the far end of the Sonoita Creek Loop Trail, someone had provided a nice bench along the babbling creek.

Returning to the trailhead along the Sonoita Creek Loop Trail there is a spur trail, which we did not take on Tuesday, that leads to this view of the falls on Sonoita Creek.

This Arizona state park is noted for its birding.

While we were sitting at the picnic table just outside the Airstream door, this red-headed woodpecker came for a visit.

We are leaving tomorrow so we thought before we leave we should check out Patagonia Lake. A gem of a lake in southern Arizona.

Today's hike:
Length - 5.70 miles
Duration - 3 hours, 18 minutes (including lunch)
Elevation gain - 600 feet (67 floors on the Fitbit)
