Hurricane Hill Trail

This is an interesting area where the sun is shining at the Olympic National Park entrance, and then 17 miles away, up the road in the mountains, there are snow flakes, biting cold and wind.

Hurricane Hill is the premiere hike at Hurricane Ridge, the center of the mountainous area of Olympic National Park. In better weather the trail provides stunning views of Mt. Olympus, the highest peak of the Olympics, and overviews where you can look across the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Vancouver Island. But not today.

Not only did we wear our rain jackets, which protect against both the wind and the rain, but underneath we had on our winter jackets. It was cold!

The trail as it leaves the tree line.

At the top of Hurricane Hill. We didn't stay long.

As we descended the trail, the weather began to clear, but...

the top of the Hill remained in the clouds.

The road to the Park entrance has three tunnels.

Today's hike:
Length -  3.36 miles
Duration - 1 hour, 19 minutes
Elevation gain - 880 feet (89 floors on the Fitbit)
