Thanksgiving Day

We asked several people and even though today is the official Thanksgiving Day in Canada, everyone that we talked to had their Thanksgiving Day turkey dinner yesterday. I think this is a great time of the year to celebrate Thanksgiving, makes more sense to me than the very end of November. Maybe because Thanksgiving Day in the U.S. is becoming all about the start of the Christmas buying season. I do like that in the U.S.Thanksgiving Day is on a Thursday, and if you take Friday off there is a nice long weekend and plenty of time to enjoy the holiday (and the left overs!).

It's great to be back in Canada!

We've noted this sign several times.

We have also noted this water tower before. It reads - Branford, The Telephone City. There is a cell tower that grows out of the water tower and several other towers clustered around.

Lots of farms and lots of corn to be harvested.

Frederick has been taking a series of cell tower pictures. He says to caption it - Five Dots. The reality is that Canada has fairly decent cell phone coverage. Maybe because there are fewer population centers so those few places get good coverage.

We arrived at Can-Am at about 2:30pm.

Look at that parking job! Parallel to the building and tucked in behind the other Airstream. Frederick has become a real pro.

Andy Thomson stopped by to get some work done on the holiday at about 3:15pm and came over to say hello. He commented about what a great parking job. We should have told him that we had some great teachers (That would be Andy and his brother Kirk).

In the June 23rd blog there is the spring version of this picture. Earl's is about ten minutes from Can-Am and I guess we like it because we always come back.

The open kitchen at Earl's.

This group, on the left, seemed to be a business group bonding before a big meeting tomorrow. When they left we were almost the only other people in the restaurant. It was Thanksgiving Day, after all.

Our salads - Caesar on the right (Frederick's) and Garden Greens with feta and caramelized pecans on the left.

We each had the salmon dinner. I asked for the jalapeño pepper/cilantro puree on the side; then I gave it to Frederick.

For desert, we passed up the pumpkin pie for the chocolate pudding and vanilla bean gelato.
