Super moon

I hope everyone got to see the moon last night, Sunday. It is called a "super" moon because it looks so big because it is so close to the earth in its orbit.
This is from Sunday night, after we returned from the Stephenville Theatre Festival Gala.

Moving day - we are in Doyles, Newfoundland, at the Grand Codroy RV/Tent Camping park. It is in the heart of the Grand Codroy Estuary, one of the largest and richest estuaries in Newfoundland Labrador. A greater variety of waterfowl species stop here rather than anywhere else in the province - over 300 afferent species of birds have been seen and listed. It is the only wetlands in the province to receive Ramsar designation as "A Wetlands of International Significance". There is a Wetlands walking trail that begins at the Wetland Interpretation Center, and that was our destination this afternoon.

Display cases in theInterpretation Center.

This wetlands area has a high concentration and a large variety of waterfowl species.

Out on the trail. We have our rain jackets and are covered in insect repellent.

A nice place for ducks.

The trail along side the estuary was actually through some pretty heavily twooded areas. Mostly balsam fir.

Rain in the distance produced these unusual rainbow effects.

I had never seen anything like this.

Pretty spectacular.

After the hike we travelled to the westernmost point of Newfoundland, Cape Anguille. The Cape Anguille Lighthouse overlooks the light keeper's 1905 home.

The road to the lighthouse was perhaps the worst road we have ever travelled. It took us 15 minutes to travel about 1 km. I used to think Rhode Island's roads were bad!

The light keepers home that is now an Inn. I can't imagine anyone traveling the road to get to this inn. I would give up in disgust.
