Our big adventure for the day was supposed to be the Skyline Sunset Hike that was scheduled to begin at 6:10 pm. This morning we spent some time doing housekeeping duties and set out to eat our lunch on the Cabot Trail and then take a little tune-up hike before tonight's big adventure.
As we were eating our lunch at the Le Buttereau picnic area, along with a group of traveling Amish from Indiana, the wind began to blow, and the sky darkened. We drove back to the Visitor Center and talked with the Interpreter who led the Skyline Sunset Hike. Because there was thunder and lightening and an unfavorable prediction for this evening, he decided to cancel the hike.
We drove back past our campground entrance to a hill at the south end of Cheticamp Island and a viewpoint that Jim, from yesterday, had told us about.
View south. I think you can probably see the rain and the darkening clouds overhead.
West, toward Cheticamp.
North along the coast of Cheticamp Island. You can't see them in the picture but there are lots of birds on the rocks below this cliff.
As we were driving down the hill from the viewpoint Frederick spotted this nice composition.
We had a splendid afternoon; I read and Frederick did some trip planning.
