Our last day in Elephant Butte and our last day on the West Lakeshore Trail. It turns out that we hiked most of the entire trail - 12 miles, but 24 when you do it as an out-and-back - all except about a 1/4-mile. We would have hiked the entire trail if we had looked at our map and seen that we had only a 1/4-mile to go to Black Bluff where we turned around yesterday. But, today we were on the clock, hiking for a set period of time, and we didn't bother to look at the map to see exactly where we were.
Today's trail was easier than yesterday's, fewer ups and downs and soft sand to trudge through.
We liked the notches in this mountain range.
It looks rather hazy today because of wind blown dust.
We're under a high wind warning.
Today's hike:
Length - 8.09 miles
Duration - 2 hours, 58 minutes
Elevation gain - 300 feet (34 floors on the Fitbit)
