ABQ

We left Santa Rosa Lake State Park a day early because the Airstream dealer in Albuquerque could take us in tomorrow for servicing on the Airstream. This part of the country had some very early Spanish settlements, some dating back to the early 1500s. Frederick read in the tour book that the Spanish had a penchant for really long names, and locals refer to Albuquerque as ABQ.
We jumped on I-40 that cut through Santa Rosa and is the route of Historic Route 66 and it turned out be be a major east-west truck route.

Still snow on the nearby mountains.

To the east the Sandia Mountains serve as a backdrop for ABQ.

After we settled the Airstream we drove off to the nearest Costco that features covered parking lots.
