Bow RiversEdge

The Rockies are in sight - we have made it to Cochrane, just outside of Calgary, about a 50 minute drive to the Calgary airport. We are planning on flying to California on Wednesday to attend Peter and Vivian's Commencement exercises and associated festivities. We will leave the Airstream in the Bow RiversEdge Campground where we are tonight. It's a private campground, and we're all lined up in rows, but there are trees and shrubs between sites and the facilities are newish, so it's not too bad. And, the Airstream we be safe while we are away.

Driving west from Drumheller we were almost to Calgary before we were able to make out the Rockies on the horizon.

Cochrane, a little northwest of Calgary, is a little elevated than the surrounding countryside and...

the campground is located along the Bow river which flows out of the Rockies.

There is a hiking/biking pathway along the river, that then winds through the city of Cochrane, which we took advantage of in order to stretch our legs.

Leaving the river, the path travelled alongside a stream that cut through the center of town.

At several points we travelled through neighborhoods, but there were a number of stretches that were lovely like this.

They were making some repairs to the path at one point and we had to cross the road by going through a culvert.

Not bad - it was a big culvert.

There were several places where there was evidence of beaver activity and...

these lovely lilacs had a heavenly fragrance.
