Chasing an orange light

Blog for May 17, 2015 -

Wednesday, when we went to Devils Tower, a "check engine" light came on. It was still on Friday when we went to Rapid City and the local import car repair center ( the nearest Mercedes service was in Billings [300+ miles] or Sioux Falls [350+ miles]). The import car repair place hooked-up the car to the software diagnostic and declared that fuel injector #5 was the problem and we would need to take it to Mercedes service.

We decided to tow the Airstream to the Badlands, set-up, and then drive the car on to Sioux Falls in eastern South Dakota, almost into Minnesota, where we had an appointment at 8 a.m. on Monday. That is why we are in Sioux Falls.

Heading east on Interstate 90. The wind is blowing about 45 mph and providing a nice tail-wind as we cross the prairie of South Dakota. It took us 3 1/2 hours to travel the 270 miles.

A place of note - Vivian, South Dakota - population 119 and a CDP (consensus designated place); meaning it is not incorporated but is considered a "community" for statistical/census purposes.

The hills just before we reached the Missouri River.

Crossing the wide Missouri River.
