A day in Midland

Blog for April 20, 2015

Today was all business. Unbelievably, the Residence Inn where we stayed last night was the equivalent of 4 blocks away from the Mercedes Service and a Sam’s Club was between the Dealership and the Residence Inn. This morning we took the car over for service and then walked back to the hotel and worked on travel planning. It was pure joy to have access to the internet! About 11:30 we were called and told the car was ready so we walked back over to pick it up. We now have new rear disc brakes and the sensor is not nagging us to “Check the brake pad wear.”

We went to Sam’s Club and then to a jewelry store near the Mall, about 3 three miles away. The clasp on my chain wasn’t functioning correctly and it need to be replaced. This jewelry store had on-site repair service and we were able to wait while it was worked on. While we waited we ate our lunch in their nice waiting area. We had a very positive experience at the store - Jared, The Galleria of Jewelry.

This pleasant person is Kalynn - she repaired the clasp on the chain. We really appreciated that she was willing to do the repair while we waited. After she repaired the chain she came out into the store and we had a pleasant conversation with her and several of her Associates, mostly about places we have seen in Texas.

The drive back was much pleasanter around Midland than yesterday. The wind had stopped blowing so hard and the soil seemed to be staying on the ground. There were some lovely wildflowers along the side of the road. Here are the flowers and the ever-present fence. (Along with the ever-present fence in Texas are the ever-present plastic bags caught on the fences.)

Frederick took this “artsy” picture of the Texas countryside around Midland.

The last wildflower-along-the-roadside picture.
